Interview with Matthew White

Son of Colombian-born Miami, Matthew White struggled all his life to become a great singer. He studied with various teachers among which we name Augusto Cortez, Clara Solorzano, Mary Montoya, Elisa Brex, Marjorie Gordon, Joseph Lo Cicero, Sally Brown, Monica Cordova, Michael Zager and Renata Scotto, who helped him perfect his style and polish to get the result today.

In his career Matthew White has been involved in major works such as operas "Child God Man" in 1995 and "He and the creation of the World" in 1996, both for director Augusto Cortez. This has also been part of the cast of La Traviata, Rigoletto, Don Giovanni and Il Trovatore and many others. But it was not until 2001 that he recorded his first professional demo which chooses the topic "Wind" as a promotional single. Among those to whom Matthew White has had the opportunity to showcase their talent, we can mention: Aretha Franklin, George HW Bush, Tony Blair, Renee Fleming, Michael Bolton, Robert De Niro, Emilio Estefan, Shaquille O'Neal, Lauren Bacall and many others. And now is the Canadian people that he will be able to hear live and live by it for some time, this great musical talent, he moved to our land.

TorontoHispano.com did an interview with Matthew White, in which he tells us more about yourself.

You had many teachers throughout your life What was the most important lesson they gave you?
I learned from my teachers, vocal technique, my respect and admiration for each of them, but life itself taught me the great secret of chanting, singing with the soul. But my grandparents were my best teachers taught me to love music first before becoming a singer.

Did you get support from your family when you decide to take this?
Absolutely, thank God I have some lovely parents, but I support my decision to do what I like best: singing.

What would you say was your greatest achievement?
I think my biggest achievement in life is that I smile all day and I feel much love for people.

In a career full of goals achieved Why did you decide to come to Toronto?
I came on vacation and look here I am living in Canada, very happy and forgetting trajectories and thinking of new goals.

How do the musical sense in our city?
Toronto is a cosmopolitan city that makes it very special and more for artists. But magic is not only in Toronto, is in cities like Montreal where I can enjoy great jazz concerts.

Do you have any dates for presentations here?
I am currently promoting my album White Matthew 7.24, but surely one day will have a concert in Toronto Matthew White, because I tell you that very special city, is about as nice theaters. For example The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre is beautiful, is unique in its style, its history is amazing.

What would you say to people who want to pursue art in your life?
That the most wonderful thing anyone can do is to do what one likes.
